Train prints

Which kind of train print

Posters run from A4 to 70x100 cm on 250 gsm archival paper, and framed posters come at A3 or A2 with the glazing fitted. Canvas suits a big landscape shot of a viaduct or a moor, metal gives a modern diesel or electric unit a hard, bright finish, and wood warms up an old steam picture. A mug or a bottle is the small version of the same gift. Print the photograph as it was taken if it is already good, or restyle it first as a vintage railway poster, an ink and wash study or an oil-painting style. Not sure which size the file can take? The size guide checks it, and train gifts helps if you are buying for someone else, with shorter lists for steam train gifts, model railway gifts and train Christmas gifts.

As it was taken, or restyled

Choose the first route for a photograph you are already proud of. The colours, the framing and the moment stay exactly as you shot them, and a digital file of the same picture is on offer as well as the physical formats. Choose the studio route for a picture with a strong subject but ordinary light, or one you want to read as artwork from across a room. Its previews are free and watermarked, three a day, and you pay nothing until you have approved one and picked a format. Either way the piece is made for you alone after you order, so the photograph you upload decides almost everything about how it turns out.

What every order includes

Your piece goes to the printer once the order lands, made from the exact file you approved and without the watermark. If a frame cracks in transit or the colour is visibly wrong, photograph it and email us as soon as you can, and we reprint or refund it without charge. Within 30 days of delivery you can reject it for a full refund; after that the Consumer Rights Act 2015 still covers you. Because the picture is yours, nothing comes back for a change of mind, which is why the preview comes first and is free.

Torn between two formats? Think about where the picture will be seen from. Across a room, canvas and the larger posters hold up best; close to, on a shelf or beside a desk, wood, metal and the mug reward a closer look.
