What it physically is
The same 250 gsm uncoated archival paper as the unframed print, in a wood moulding, glazed with plexiglass, not glass. The frame opening matches the paper size exactly, so the print fills it: there is no mount and no white border between the picture and the moulding.
Plexiglass is a deliberate choice on a made-to-order item that travels through the post. It does not shatter, and it weighs a fraction of what glass does at A2.
Two sizes, two frames
A3 and A2, in black or natural wood. That is the full range and it is not a curated selection: the archival stock only exists framed at those two sizes, so the others don't exist to sell. If you want the paper framed at a size we don't list, buy the unframed print and take it to a framer, which is straightforward at A sizes.
Which photographs suit it
Anything where the detail is the point. Glazing and a flat sheet hold fine texture better than a woven surface does, so cab-side detail, worksplates, nameboards and anything documentary reads properly here. It is also the format that looks like an occasion, which is why it is the usual answer for a milestone.
The alternatives
For a frameless finish with more depth, canvas or framed canvas. For something that shrugs off a workshop, metal. The rest of the formats sit together on the stage page, and the size guide checks your file can reach A2 before you commit to it.
