Station sign maker

Type a name and an optional second line, pick the colours, and print your own station sign on A4. It is our own design, for a shed door, a model railway, a birthday or a bedroom.

Make your sign

The sign prints on A4, landscape, with a line that should measure 50 mm, so you can check your printer kept the size. Nothing you type is saved: it lives in the link in your address bar.

Got a railway photograph you love? Print it as it is, or turn it into railway art.

How to use it

Type the station name. Any name works. A house, a grandchild, the dog, the allotment or the garden railway at the bottom of the lawn all make a fine station. Add a second line if you like, such as "Change here for the allotment". Pick one of four colour pairs, and the preview changes as you type.

Press "Print it on A4" and the sign prints on its own, landscape, without the rest of this page. Under the sign is a line that should measure 50 mm. If it does not, set your printer to actual size, or 100%, and print again.

Our design, on purpose

This is a plain board with a double border, in our own colours and the lettering we use on this site. It is not a copy of any railway company's sign, symbol, lettering or colours. Those belong to their owners. We would rather make something that is yours, with your name in big letters and nothing on it that someone else could say was theirs.

Long names step down in size so they stay on one line. You get up to 28 letters for the name and 40 for the second line, which is plenty for most sheds.

Printing tips

We like it on thick matt paper or card. For outdoors, slip it into a clear sleeve or laminate it. And if you want a bigger sign that lasts, a photograph of your own station on a metal or wood print is something we make.

Questions, answered

Can I use the sign outside?
Paper will not last outdoors. Put it in a clear sleeve or laminate it, or keep it under cover.
Why does my print come out the wrong size?
Your printer is probably scaling it to fit. Choose actual size, or 100%, and check the 50 mm line with a ruler.
Can I copy a real station sign?
We do not offer that. Real signs, symbols and lettering belong to their owners, so the tool makes our own design.
